Albanese 'sending a message' migrants are welcome – Sky News Australia

Australia is set for its biggest permanent migration intake since 1984 after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced an increase to the permanent migration ceiling, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
The ceiling is set to increase from 160,000 to 195,000 in a bid to address skills shortages.
“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wants to send a message to the world that migrants are welcome here with this policy and believes the summit confirmed that business groups want a switch from temporary to permanent migration,” Mr Clennell said.
